Part-time Nurse for Plastic and Jaw Surgery – Akademiska Hospital
We are Akademiska Hospital – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a county hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is hailed as a hero. Here, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic events, within a strong community with your colleagues. We welcome your application!
Our Department
Ward 85F2 is a surgical care unit specializing in plastic and jaw surgery as well as burn care, all under one roof. We currently have 12 beds, which are reduced to six on weekends. We treat both adults and children, with a mix of planned and emergency patient intake. This role is ideal for you if you enjoy variety, diversity, and want to learn new skills. Patients requiring highly specialized care are admitted from Uppsala County, the regions we are responsible for as a university hospital, from across the country, and even from other countries.
In our specialty, functionality is restored after, for example, tumor diseases, severe body injuries such as burns, and congenital malformations. Reconstructive plastic surgery at Akademiska Hospital is recognized as one of the leading centers in plastic surgery both nationally and internationally. The department's quality management system has been certified according to ISO 9001 and SS-EN 15224 since 2016, with annual audits performed by Intertek. We offer varied work with challenges and great stimulation that contribute to the development of your competence.

Your Role
As a part-time nurse on 85F2, you will be asked if you want and can work. This will happen on both a long-term and short-term basis. You decide for yourself how many shifts you book, but you need to work continuously to stay updated.
The care needs of our patients are very varied, but there is a major focus on pain management, nutrition, and wound care. You work together with nursing assistants but are responsible for leading and distributing the work within the team around the patient. You will receive an individually adapted introduction to provide knowledge and a good understanding of our operations. Together with your colleagues, you create a good work environment and contribute a positive attitude to the work group.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse, preferably with a few years of experience in the profession. If you have experience in surgical care, it is excellent but not a requirement. As a person, you are stable, solution-oriented, secure, and empathetic. You are responsible, always keep the patient in focus, and appreciate teamwork. As a part-time employee, you should be flexible.
What We Offer
We offer a part-time position as a nurse. We believe that different people have different prerequisites and wishes, which is why we offer you the option to work two-shift, three-shift, or night shifts only. However, at present, we have the greatest need for night work. We would like you to be trained as soon as possible. Salary and start date by agreement.
You will receive an individually adapted orientation together with a supervisor, adjusted to your prior knowledge so that you feel secure in your role with us. We will also offer S-HLR (Basic Life Support) for adults and children. With us, you get benefits that make a difference, read about the benefits here (Region Uppsala Benefits (https://regionuppsala.se/formaner/)).

Region Uppsala values the qualities that equal gender distribution and diversity bring to the operations and welcomes applicants of all genders and with different birth backgrounds, abilities, and life experiences.
Region Uppsala mobilizes all permanent staff based on the needs of the total defense. This means no obligations for the individual employee in peacetime but is solely a planning measure.
Before a decision on employment, checks of suspicion and criminal records are conducted for all job seekers who, in the sought-after position, may come to work within psychiatric care, habilitation, care of children and youth, or involuntary care of addicts, areas covered by facultative register extracts. This thus applies to all who will work close to patients, even if the tasks at present are not intended to mainly involve work with the aforementioned patient groups.
This recruitment is conducted entirely through Region Uppsala, and we decline phone calls from recruitment agencies and advertising sales representatives.
